Booklet design for the Nate Ruffin Scholarship Fund: It is the mission of the Cade Chapel – Nate Ruffin Scholarship Board to reflect the spirit of our brother, Nate Ruffin, by fulfilling his desire to establish a scholarship fund for the youth of Cade Chapel and the Virden Addition community. Nate Ruffin was reared by his grandmother in Quincy, Florida. There was very little money available to them, so Nate began working at the age of six rolling tobacco for $1.50 per day. His grandmother gave him five to ten cents of his earnings each pay period and saved the rest for his education. She encouraged him to stay in school and as a result of this; he was able to attend college on a football scholarship at Marshall University in West Virginia. Traumatic events while at Marshall University had a life changing affect on Nate, shaping and revealing his life’s purpose. After Nate and Sharon Ruffin married and started their family, they were determined to send their children to college because they realized that the way to achieve success was first and foremost through God but also through an education. They made it their goal to send at least 10 youth to college because Nate was a living witness that the only way out of poverty was through a good education.
